About me

I’m Wiktoria Rohde from Poland but I’m an artist based in Lancashire. After a long time of working with sculptures, I decided that my new project should be in print. My work is inspired by old traditions in pregnancy and motherhood and how our generation tries to fight them. Through my illustration, I am focused on creating bold colourful work showing the struggling and judgemental side of pregnancy and motherhood which is usually known as wonderful.

Pregnancy and motherhood has always been seen as joyful time. In my country it is still sometimes seen as wrong if a pregnant woman or mother complains about the struggles of this time.
Quite often it is thought that women should birth and raise children. With my prints, I wanted to show how my generation’s thinking is different compared to our older family members as well as some members of our community and that even though pregnancy and motherhood can be an amazing and joyful time it does also have its bad sides.
